Jury Duty!

Mrs. McIntyre isn't at school today because she was called for jury duty!! I'll be going to the Summit County Courthouse at 8:30 AM today (1/5) and see if I get selected to be on a jury.

Find out how you get "picked" to serve on jury duty, and then how you are picked to be on a jury. How many people serve on a jury? Who are some of the "key people" involved in a criminal trial?

Do you feel the selection process for jury duty is a fair process? Why or why not?
Would you want to serve on a jury? Why or why not?

Make sure that you are including info you have learned about jury duty in Ohio in your response!

I'll be sure to let you know how things went!!

Boston Tea Party Partner Questions

Read the following website about the Boston Tea Party. http://www.brighthub.com/education/k-12/articles/50707.aspx  (It has more information than our textbook alone)
You and your partner should complete the questions at the end under the heading: Classroom Activities/Suggested Discussion Areas
You can answer the questions on a piece of paper (must hand in at the end of class) or via Google Docs (must be timestamped by the end of class) Please title your Google Doc "Boston Tea and (you and your partner's names)"

If you finish this assignment early you can comment on either the "Boycott" blog or the "Jury Duty" blog! Remember--it can only help you!!

Famous Boycotts

Today we discussed the Tea Act of 1773, and how it led to a boycott of tea by the colonists (and eventually led to the "civil disobedience" of the Boston Tea Party).
